Shift Laboratory Analyst

Talent STEM are partnering with an established scientific and industrial organisation to recruit a Shift Laboratory Analyst to join their technical laboratory team on an initial 3 month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad analytical experience within a busy, high-throughput laboratory supporting both routine testing and wider technical projects.
The role would suit somebody with a Chemistry qualification or previous commercial laboratory experience who is comfortable working a rotating 12-hour day and night shift pattern.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse a wide range of samples within a high-throughput laboratory environment
- Carry out wet chemical, physical and instrumental analysis
- Prepare reagents and standards for routine laboratory testing
- Record, calculate and accurately enter analytical data
- Operate, maintain and support the upkeep of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Support research, technical investigations and new product or process development where required
- Work in accordance with laboratory quality procedures and QA/QC requirements
- Follow SOPs, method statements, COSHH procedures and risk assessments
Candidate profile
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:
- A qualification in Chemistry, or previous commercial laboratory experience
- Practical experience of laboratory testing or analytical techniques
- An understanding of wet chemistry and/or instrumental analysis
- Good attention to detail and confidence working with analytical data
- An understanding of Good Laboratory Practice and QA/QC procedures
- The ability and willingness to work 12-hour day and night shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rotation
- A degree in Chemistry or another STEM subject would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant laboratory experience will also be considered.
- Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
Due to the initial short-term nature of the contract, candidates who are already based within travelling distance of Teesside will be given priority.
