Job Description:
- Lead and oversee all site operations during your shift.
- Ensure production and operational targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Allocate resources and manage workforce deployment to maximise productivity.
- Monitor site KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with operating procedures, site standards and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues.
- Champion a safety-first culture across the site.
- Ensure compliance with COMAH regulations and company procedures.
- Act as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) during emergency situations.
- Support risk assessments and permit-to-work activities.
- Drive proactive hazard identification and risk management.
- Lead, motivate and develop shift teams to achieve high performance.
- Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities.
- Support training, competency development and succession planning.
- Manage attendance, conduct and performance matters where required.
- Build a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Ensure products consistently meet required specifications.
- Maintain accurate operational records, logs and compliance documentation.
- Investigate quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability and productivity.
- Investigate operational issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Analyse shift performance data and recommend improvements.
- Liaise closely with engineering, maintenance and technical teams.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
- Deliver detailed and effective shift handovers.
- Communicate site performance and operational updates to senior management.
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory, shift leadership or operations management position.
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within manufacturing environments.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing best practices and materials management systems.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working within a COMAH-regulated environment.
- Knowledge of batch and continuous chemical processing.
- Formal leadership or management qualifications.
- Continuous Improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent).
Additional Details:
Working Pattern
- Permanent position
- 4-on / 4-off rotating shift pattern
- Average 34.3 hours per week

- Monday-Friday: 1.5x rate
- Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays: 2x rate
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
