Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Shift Technician Mechanical to provide high-quality, timely planned and reactive maintenance for building services, plant and equipment on site.

The successful candidate will support business and production needs by ensuring all planned maintenance and reactive tasks are delivered to a high standard and within Service Level Agreement requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased, apprentice-trained engineer with experience in building services maintenance, HVAC systems and plant operation. The role involves supporting the day-to-day operation of site services, fault finding, statutory inspections and continuous improvement activities.

Job Description

The Shift Technician Mechanical will play a key role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of building services systems and associated plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring equipment performance and reliability are maintained at all times.

Working within a shift environment, the role also involves assisting with minor installation and refurbishment projects, supporting contractor activities, maintaining accurate records and contributing to the continuous improvement of site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on building services plant and equipment.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of building services systems and associated plant.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on building services plant and equipment.
  • Carry out or assist with minor new works, system installations and refurbishment projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities as required.
  • Participate in the shift rota and standby/callout rota where required.
  • Complete statutory inspections and maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Manage work orders through the CAFM system, ensuring updates and communications are clear and informative.

Person Specification

  • Experience in a similar maintenance role.
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems associated with building services.
  • Experience in the operation of BMS systems and controls.
  • Apprentice trained in mechanical or multi-skilled engineering.
  • Pressure Systems AP training and experience would be advantageous; training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • City & Guilds in Heating and Ventilation Engineering (6188), or
  • City & Guilds in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (6187), or
  • City & Guilds in Building Services Engineering (6288).

Additional Qualifications

  • IPAF certification.
  • PASMA certification.
