Shipping Specialist: Cambridge: 12-month Contract; £19.24 Per hr, Inside IR35.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced shipping specialist to work with our client Marshall Land Systems based in Cambridge.
This role will be supporting the movement of parts across national and international locations. The post holder will play an important role in ensuring goods move safely, efficiently and compliantly, working closely with internal teams, freight forwarders, couriers and other logistics partners.
The role offers the opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience within a highly regulated, complex logistics environment, while becoming a valued part of a collaborative and fast-paced team.
Working across a varied range of shipments, you will have the opportunity to utilise and build strong experience in import and export processes, shipping documentation, customs requirements and international logistics. Your attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple activities will directly contribute to the successful delivery of materials to customers and operational teams.
This role will be 37 hours per week, operating on a hybrid working pattern of 3-4 days on site with the possibility of ad hoc travel to Wales. The successful candidate will also need to complete security checks.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
Providing Shipping & Logistics administrative support to Marshall Land Systems.
Coordinating the import and export of parts, in accordance with company procedures and applicable HMRC and trade legislation.
Compiling accurate shipping documentation for national and international movements of materials.
Liaising with freight agents, freight forwarders, couriers and other logistics service providers.
Advising internal customers and stakeholders on the progress and status of shipments and movements.
Tracking shipments from collection through to successful delivery and proactively addressing any issues or delays.
Ensuring the most appropriate and cost-effective shipping option is selected for each specific requirement.
Coordinating with core functions to manage delivery times, schedules and associated risks.
Maintaining accurate and organised shipping records and documentation to enable efficient reference and audit.
Ensuring all shipping activities are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with relevant company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, logistics companies, freight forwarders and other service providers.
Supporting the wider Shipping & Logistics team with general administration and coordination activities as required.
Previous experience required:
Experience within a Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, Import/Export or similar administrative environment is essential.
Experience of working with freight forwarders, couriers or logistics providers.
Experience of preparing or managing shipping and/or export documentation is essential.
Experience of working with business systems, including ERP systems, for data entry and
information management.
Experience of working in a regulated, compliance-focused or process-driven environment would be beneficial where exposure to ATACarnet, IPR and OPR is preferred.
Experience of coordinating multiple activities or shipments while managing competing
priorities.
Previous experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of tariff classification and rule of origin, commercial invoicing.
Exposure to dual use, ITAR and trade control.
Dangerous goods certifications preferable.
Technical skills required for the role:
Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manage and analyse information effectively.
Confident inputting, retrieving and maintaining information within business systems, including ERP systems.
Good understanding of shipping, logistics and/or import and export processes.
Ability to produce and maintain accurate documentation and records.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and manage multiple requirements
simultaneously.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also managing tasks independently.
