An established Civil Engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join its team delivering projects through a long-term water infrastructure framework across Devon and Cornwall.
The framework covers a varied portfolio of schemes valued between £50k and £2m, including pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations, screens, runways and associated civil engineering works. This position will suit a Site Agent who has worked extensively within water utilities and is comfortable overseeing several projects in a busy framework environment.
The Role
As Site Agent, you'll be responsible for coordinating the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of multiple live water infrastructure schemes. You'll ensure projects remain on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards, while maintaining strong working relationships with the client and wider delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple clean water and wastewater infrastructure schemes from mobilisation through to completion.
- Manage site teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners, ensuring work is delivered safely and efficiently.
- Plan and coordinate programmes to meet key milestones and agreed client deadlines.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to track budgets, forecasts and project performance under NEC contracts.
- Contribute to pre-construction activities, including surveys, buildability assessments and technical reviews.
- Coordinate with local authorities, highways teams and statutory undertakers as required.
- Attend client and project meetings, providing clear updates on progress, programme and delivery.
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations and temporary works procedures.
- Produce, review and maintain RAMS, site documentation and accurate project records.
- Complete regular site inspections, quality checks and Health & Safety audits.
- Track KPIs and SLAs, taking action where required to maintain agreed delivery standards.
You'll come from a strong civil engineering background with demonstrable experience delivering projects within the water utilities sector. Clean water and/or wastewater experience is essential, alongside the ability to manage several live schemes and coordinate effectively with clients, subcontractors, commercial teams and operational stakeholders.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Essential experience delivering water utilities infrastructure projects, covering clean water and/or wastewater schemes.
- Previous involvement in project delivery within a water framework environment.
- A solid civil engineering and utilities infrastructure background.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations and temporary works requirements.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects concurrently.
- Good commercial awareness and programme management capability.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- An HNC, HND, NVQ or Degree in a construction-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- SMSTS, CSCS, Streetworks and other relevant site management qualifications.
