About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Agent to join our delivery team working on water infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of projects, ensuring works are completed to programme, budget, specification, and the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong civil engineering background who has progressed into site management and is confident leading construction teams while acting as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders on site. You will play a key role in maintaining excellent client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Site Agent Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the day to day management of construction activities on site.
  • Deliver projects safely, ensuring full compliance with company procedures, CDM Regulations, client requirements, and health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to achieve programme milestones.
  • Manage site teams, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery plans where necessary.
  • Ensure works are completed to specification, drawings, and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), permits, and construction documentation.
  • Coordinate Temporary Works requirements and ensure compliance with approved designs and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate site records including diaries, inspections, quality documentation, and as built information.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor productivity and resource utilisation to achieve commercial targets.
  • Support the commercial team by managing variations, compensation events, subcontractor performance, and accurate record keeping.
  • Attend progress meetings with clients, designers, and key stakeholders.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership and regular site inspections.
  • Mentor and develop Site Engineers and other junior team members.

Site Agent Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong civil engineering background, ideally with experience progressing from a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer role into site management.
  • Previous experience working as a Site Agent or Senior Site Engineer delivering civil engineering or water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects involving: clean water networks, wastewater infrastructure, pipelines and rising mains, pumping stations, Service reservoirs, water or wastewater treatment works
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods including earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, utilities, and structural works.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour, and multiple work fronts simultaneously.
  • Experience delivering projects under NEC contracts.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, and programme management.
  • Experience liaising directly with clients, local authorities, designers, and statutory undertakers.
  • Demonstrable experience maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality performance.
