We are currently looking for reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operatives to join a long-term project at Gatwick Airport.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for stable, ongoing work, with the project expected to run for approximately 12 months.

You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across various office and welfare facilities within the airport environment. The successful candidate will need to be reliable, punctual and comfortable working as part of a team.

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, although there is some flexibility around start and finish times for the right candidates.

There is also the opportunity to undertake weekend work, which is paid at an enhanced rate of £19.07 per hour.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Cleaning and maintaining office facilities to a high standard.

• Cleaning staff changing rooms and welfare areas.

• Cleaning and maintaining kitchen and break-out areas.

• Cleaning toilets and washroom facilities.

• Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors.

• Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately.

• Cleaning surfaces, desks and communal areas.

• Replenishing consumables where required, such as toilet roll, hand soap and paper towels.

• Ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are used correctly and safely.

• Reporting any maintenance issues, damage or hazards to the appropriate supervisor.

• Following site-specific cleaning procedures and health & safety requirements.

• Maintaining a professional standard of cleanliness throughout the facilities.

• Working safely within a busy airport environment.

• Following all airport security and access procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous commercial or industrial cleaning experience.

• A reliable and hardworking attitude.

• Good timekeeping and attendance.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good attention to detail.

• A professional approach to working on a high-security site.

• The ability to follow instructions and site procedures.

• The ability to reliably travel to Gatwick Airport for the required working hours.

A CSCS card is preferred, although candidates without a CSCS card may still be considered depending on their previous experience and suitability for the role.

Due to the nature of the site, candidates will require a recent DBS check.

Ideally, candidates will already hold a DBS completed within the last 10 weeks.

Candidates who do not currently have a suitable DBS will need to be willing to undertake a new DBS check as part of the onboarding process.

All successful candidates will be required to obtain the necessary airport pass and site clearance before starting work.

The start date is therefore ASAP, subject to successful completion of the required airport clearance and pass process.

Candidates must have a reliable method of travelling to and from Gatwick Airport.

Public transport users are encouraged to apply, provided they can reliably arrive for the required start time.

Parking is available at the airport, however, candidates should be aware that parking costs approximately £67 per month.

There is some flexibility around working hours for the right candidate.

With a standard 8:00am–5:00pm shift, this provides approximately 40 paid hours per week, subject to the project's specific break arrangements and working requirements.

This is a long-term opportunity, with the project expected to run for approximately 12 months.
