Ivy Resource Group are working with a well-established contractor to recruit an experienced Site Engineer for a permanent role based in Bicester.

The company:

Our client is a specialist groundworks and civil engineering contractor, delivering high-quality infrastructure and construction solutions across a range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The company provides a comprehensive service, including groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads and sewers, reinforced concrete, external works, and infrastructure installation.

The Role:

  • Set out works in accordance with construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Carry out surveys and establish site control points using GPS, Total Station, and laser levels.
  • Ensure all groundworks activities are completed accurately, safely, and to the required quality standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical information to guide site operations.
  • Monitor and check levels, line, and dimensions throughout the construction process.
  • Produce and maintain accurate site records, including setting out data, as-built surveys, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Liaise with Site Managers, Contracts Managers, clients, subcontractors, and design teams to coordinate works.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, providing engineering support to site teams.
  • Ensure materials and workmanship meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Assist with planning site activities to ensure works are delivered on programme.
  • Support the implementation of health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures on site.
  • Carry out quality inspections and complete inspection test plans (ITPs) where required.
  • Monitor progress and report any delays, risks, or engineering issues to the project team.
  • Coordinate with utility providers and other stakeholders where necessary.
  • Prepare and update as-built drawings and handover documentation.
  • Ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated, maintained, and used correctly.
  • Assist with quantity measurements and material take-offs where required.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects by maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and professionalism.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within the groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, roads and sewers, foundations, reinforced concrete, and external works.
  • Proficient in setting out using GPS, Total Station, and digital surveying equipment.
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience producing and maintaining accurate site records, as-built surveys, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, with a proactive approach to safe working practices.
  • Strong understanding of quality control procedures and ensuring work is completed to specification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues on site.
  • Effective communication skills, able to liaise confidently with site managers, subcontractors, clients, and designers.
  • Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks while meeting programme deadlines.
  • Have experience in setting up, calibrating and troubleshooting 3D machine control systems, including model building for Leica MC1 (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible and willing to travel between sites as required.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of project costs and efficient resource management.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic and a focus on continuous improvement.

Pay:

  • £200 - £400 per day depending on experience

  • Weekly hours 7:30am - 16:30pm

  • Contract type: Self - Emoployed
