SITE ENGINEER

Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Rate: £300 – £350 per day, CIS
Duration: 9 Months
Start Date: Immediate

The Role

Ridgeway & Co are currently looking for an experienced Groundworks Site Engineer to join a long-term project in Cambridge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting out and engineering duties across the groundworks package, working closely with the Site Manager, groundworks teams and subcontractors to ensure works are completed accurately, safely and in line with programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting out for groundworks, foundations, drainage and external works.
• Setting out levels, coordinates and datums across the site.
• Carrying out surveys and site checks.
• Using Total Station and GPS equipment.
• Reading and interpreting technical and construction drawings.
• Checking line, level and accuracy of completed works.
• Maintaining accurate site and engineering records.
• Liaising with Site Managers, groundworkers and subcontractors.
• Identifying and resolving setting-out or engineering issues.
• Monitoring works to ensure progress is maintained against programme.
• Ensuring works meet required quality and health & safety standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer on groundworks projects.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience.
• Good knowledge of foundations, drainage and external works.
• Confident using Total Station/GPS equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Relevant engineering or construction qualification preferred.
• Strong understanding of health & safety.
• Own laptop and setting-out equipment preferred but not essential.
