About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to join our team on a major bridge construction project. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high profile civil engineering scheme, supporting the successful delivery of complex bridge and infrastructure works while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Working closely with the Site Agent, Project Manager, and construction teams, you will play a key role in setting out, quality assurance, technical support, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with the design and programme.
Site Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out for bridge and associated civil engineering works.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction information.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with design, quality, and safety standards.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, including as-built surveys.
- Manage and review subcontractor setting out and engineering activities.
- Support the preparation of permits, inspections, and quality documentation.
- Conduct site surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment.
- Assist with temporary works implementation and monitoring.
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site in collaboration with the design team.
- Monitor progress against programme and report any issues or delays.
- Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture at all times.
Site Engineer Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on bridge, highways, or major civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, and earthworks.
- Competent in setting out using Leica, Trimble, or similar surveying equipment.
- Good understanding of quality assurance processes and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- CSCS Card.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience working on National Highways, Network Rail, or other major infrastructure projects.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- Temporary Works Supervisor training.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Working towards or already Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status.
