Site Engineer – UPVC Fabrication Machinery & Site Maintenance
Location: Aldridge, West Midlands
Job Type: Full-time (40–45 hours per week)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE
About the Role
We are working on behalf of an established UPVC window and door manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Site Engineer.
This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing specialist UPVC fabrication machinery as well as supporting general site and facilities maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment uptime and smooth day-to-day production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Machinery Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on UPVC fabrication machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
- Install, commission, and relocate machinery when required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service schedules
- Liaise with external suppliers and contractors where necessary
Site Maintenance
- Carry out general building and facilities maintenance tasks
- Maintain site services including lighting, heating, compressed air systems, and utilities
- Undertake minor repairs to buildings, fixtures, and equipment
- Support health & safety inspections and ensure compliance with procedures
- Maintain workshop tools and maintenance equipment
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability and efficiency
- Support machinery upgrades and improvement projects
- Assist in managing spare parts stock levels and recommendations
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing or production
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Basic electrical fault-finding ability
- Experience working with industrial machinery
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable
- Experience with UPVC fabrication machinery (e.g., welding, routing, cutting, CNC, corner cleaning)
- Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, 18th Edition or equivalent)
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems
- Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent)
