9 Month Contract Opportunity
Rate: £350 - £375 per day (Inside IR35 - Umbrella PAYE)
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of a key package of works on the a station accessibility upgrade project.
Working within a live rail environment, you will play a vital role in setting out, technical assurance, quality control, and site coordination, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work across civil engineering, rail infrastructure, and temporary works while supporting the successful delivery of a high-profile station improvement scheme.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out setting out and surveying activities for civil and structural works.
- Interpret and implement engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements on site.
- Support the planning and day-to-day delivery of works, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor site activities to ensure quality standards and programme objectives are achieved.
- Assist with the coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and temporary works requirements.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, QA documentation, ITPs, and as-built information.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, escalating where necessary.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Support short-term planning, progress reporting, and programme management activities.
- Liaise with project management, design teams, and client representatives to ensure efficient project delivery.
Requirements:
- Strong civil engineering background with experience in structural works and/or earthworks.
- Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on infrastructure, rail, or civil engineering projects.
- Essential: Previous experience working within rail environments.
- Experience delivering station upgrades, accessibility schemes, or similar projects is highly desirable.
- Competent in setting out using modern surveying equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Understanding of temporary works and their implementation on site.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification highly desirable.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Good understanding of industry standards, specifications, and engineering best practices.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
