The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established manufacturing business based in the York area that is looking to appoint an experienced Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its busy engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a fast-paced production environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining plant performance, minimising downtime and supporting ongoing site improvement projects.
The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the manufacturing site through a combination of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with established schedules.
- Responding to reactive maintenance requirements to minimise production downtime and disruption.
- Supporting engineering activities focused on improving plant and equipment performance.
- Identifying technical issues and implementing effective engineering solutions.
- Supporting and overseeing engineering improvement projects across the site.
- Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of engineering standards for key equipment and facilities.
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of Health & Safety at all times.
- Supporting site development projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Providing engineering support to colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment.
- Participating in the on-call rota, including approximately 1 in 3 weekends.
- Taking a lead role within the engineering team, helping to motivate and develop colleagues.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background gained within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment, with experience across both mechanical and electrical machinery.
You will be a hands-on, practical engineer who is confident diagnosing faults, resolving breakdowns and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience and qualifications.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
- A full driving licence.
