The OpportunityWe are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a busy recycling and processing site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee all site activities, including wash plant operations, crushing, screening, loading, stockpiling and yard management.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and in line with production targets while leading a team of Supervisors, Operators and Site Operatives.

Key Responsibilities Site Operations- Take full responsibility for the daily running of the site, including yard operations, wash plant, crushing, screening and loading activities.
- Plan and coordinate daily workloads to maximise productivity and operational efficiency.
- Manage site layout, traffic flow, stockpiling and loading operations to ensure safe and efficient movement of materials.
- Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining high operational standards.
- Work closely with the Wash Plant Manager to ensure production aligns with site priorities.
- Coordinate wash plant output with crushing, screening, loading and stock management activities.
- Minimise downtime and eliminate operational bottlenecks through effective planning and communication.
- Lead, motivate and manage Supervisors, Operators and Site Operatives.
- Allocate labour and plant resources efficiently across the site.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate training, inductions and ongoing development.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage performance issues where required.
- Take overall responsibility for Health & Safety across the site.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, RAMS, environmental permits and all relevant legislation.
- Deliver toolbox talks, site inspections and safety briefings.
- Ensure PPE compliance for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee the availability, utilisation and condition of all plant and machinery.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed.
- Work alongside maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
- Ensure equipment defects are reported and resolved promptly.
- Ensure processed materials meet required quality and grading standards.
- Monitor production rates and operational performance.
- Carry out regular inspections of stockpiles and finished products.
- Resolve quality concerns through operational improvements or maintenance activities.
- Produce regular reports on production, site performance and operational improvements.
- Lead weekly operational meetings covering safety, production and maintenance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase productivity.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across all site operations.
- Previous experience in a Site Manager, Operations Manager or Quarry Manager role.
- Strong leadership experience managing large operational teams.
- Experience within recycling, aggregates, quarrying, waste management or heavy industrial environments.
- Good understanding of crushing, screening, wash plants or bulk material processing operations.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and environmental compliance.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
- A proactive, hands-on management style with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Salary of £45,000 - £52,000 depending on experience.
- Overtime paid at £25.00 per hour.
