Job Title: Site Manager - Civil Engineering

Location: Witham, Essex

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Walker Construction is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our growing team for an exciting civil engineering project based in Witham, Essex.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Site Manager looking to build a long-term career with an established and respected contractor. Whilst the project is within a railway station car park, previous rail experience is not essential. What is essential is a strong civil engineering background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to hit the ground running on a fast-paced project.

The initial project is expected to last approximately 12 months, with ongoing opportunities available within Walker Construction beyond this scheme.

About the role:

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

Key duties:

• Managing all site activities and subcontractors
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
• Coordinating labour, plant and materials
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders and the wider project team
• Monitoring progress and resolving issues as they arise
• Producing site records and maintaining project documentation
• Driving programme delivery while maintaining high standards of workmanship

About you:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering projects
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
• SMSTS essential
• CSCS Manager Card essential
• First Aid at Work desirable
• Ideally located within commuting distance of Witham, Essex
