We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join the delivery team on a substantial civil engineering package forming part of a major UK critical infrastructure project.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile, technically challenging scheme that will have a lasting impact. Working alongside an experienced project team, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of significant civil engineering works, ensuring programme, quality, and commercial objectives are achieved.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will lead the day-to-day management of site operations, coordinating subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and materials to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily site activities across a substantial civils package.
  • Driving a positive health, safety, and environmental culture with zero compromise.
  • Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered in line with programme.
  • Ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Planning and managing labour, plant, and material resources effectively.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and commercial teams to identify and resolve delivery challenges.
  • Chairing site coordination meetings and maintaining strong communication with all stakeholders.
  • Monitoring progress and implementing recovery plans where required.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate site records, permits, and reporting documentation.
  • Promoting continuous improvement and best practice throughout the project.
About You

We're looking for a proactive leader with a strong background in heavy civil engineering and complex infrastructure projects.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, utilities, structures, or highways.
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors within live construction environments.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • A thorough understanding of construction health and safety legislation and CDM requirements.
  • The ability to drive programme while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Essential Qualifications
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS (Management Level)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Full UK Driving Licence

A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management would be advantageous.
