We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a groundworks and civil engineering project based in Edinburgh, working alongside Tier 1 contractors.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering, with proven experience managing site operations, subcontractors, labour and plant on major construction projects.
This is a hands-on site management position requiring someone who can take responsibility for the safe, efficient and timely delivery of works while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise day-to-day site operations across groundworks and civil engineering activities.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site operatives, plant and materials.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.
- Liaise closely with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and the Tier 1 main contractor.
- Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays or issues.
- Ensure RAMS, permits and site documentation are understood and adhered to.
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with health & safety requirements.
- Manage site teams and provide clear direction and leadership.
- Coordinate daily briefings, toolbox talks and site inductions where required.
- Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure works meet project specifications.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports and site documentation.
- Assist with planning and coordinating upcoming works, including labour, plant and materials.
- Identify and resolve site-based issues promptly and effectively.
Requirements
- Proven Site Management experience within groundworks and civil engineering.
- Strong civils/groundworks background with a practical understanding of construction activities.
- Experience working on projects for, or directly alongside, Tier 1 contractors.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, labour and plant.
- Strong understanding of construction health & safety requirements.

- CSCS
- First Aid
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and RAMS.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams effectively.

Salary is dependent on experience, with future projects across the central belt. Start date ideally the end of September.
