The Opportunity

Clarkson Owens Recruitment is working with an established contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, refurbishment and workplace transformation projects.

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of commercial interior projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest standards of quality.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial fit-out and refurbishment, with the ability to manage subcontractors, coordinate site activities and maintain effective communication with project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations.
• Manage subcontractors and specialist trades to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Monitor construction programmes, identify potential delays and implement corrective measures.
• Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety inspections.
• Maintain quality standards across all stages of the project.
• Coordinate materials, deliveries, labour and site logistics.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, clients and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and relevant documentation.
• Manage snagging, inspections and final project handover.
• Oversee works within occupied or operational buildings where required, minimising disruption to existing operations.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• Demonstrable experience as a Site Manager within commercial fit-out or refurbishment.
• Strong understanding of internal fit-out packages, including partitions, ceilings, flooring, joinery and M&E coordination.
• Experience managing multiple subcontractors and specialist trades.
• Ability to work to demanding programmes and deadlines.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• SMSTS certification.
• Valid CSCS card.
• First Aid at Work certification.

Desirable

• Experience delivering office fit-out and workplace refurbishment projects.
• Previous experience working in live or occupied commercial environments.
• Strong understanding of project sequencing, logistics and programme management.
• Experience managing high-quality finishes and client-facing projects.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Site Manager who can take ownership of site operations and drive projects through to successful completion.

You will be comfortable working in fast-paced environments, coordinating multiple trades and maintaining excellent relationships with clients and project teams.

A strong focus on health and safety, quality, programme delivery and attention to detail is essential.
