Freelance Site Manager Required
Location: Distribution Centre Project
Duration: 5 Weeks (with further work available for the right candidate)
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Flexible 8.00am – 5.00pm (some days 5.00am)
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to take overall responsibility for a refurbishment project at a busy distribution centre. The works will include the installation of fire doors, fire alarms, and fire stopping. We require a proactive and highly organised individual who can effectively manage site operations, coordinate subcontractors, maintain programme delivery, and ensure the project is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors carrying out fire protection works.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with project programmes and client expectations.
- Monitor site productivity, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
- Lead site meetings and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Liaise daily with the Main Contractor's Project Manager and client representatives.
- Produce regular progress reports and programme updates.
- Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and welfare standards are maintained.
- Manage site logistics, labour resources, and material deliveries.
- Identify and resolve site issues promptly to minimise delays and disruption.
- Oversee quality control processes and ensure works are completed to the required standard.
- Maintain accurate site records, including RAMS, permits, inspections, and site diaries.
Essential Requirements
- Valid CSCS Card.
- SMSTS qualification (essential).
- Current First Aid at Work certificate.
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment and fit-out projects.
- Experience delivering fire door, fire alarm, passive fire protection, or similar compliance-based works would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and site management procedures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple trades and work fronts within a live operational environment.
- Proficient in maintaining site documentation and reporting progress.
