We are seeking an experienced Site Manager for a 3–4 week assignment on a project in Lewisham. The successful candidate will take day-to-day responsibility for managing the groundworks package, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the programme and quality standards.
*Candidate will need to work Saturdays as well.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the groundworks subcontractor on site.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with company Health & Safety policies.
- Conduct daily site inspections and monitor the quality of workmanship.
- Coordinate daily activities to ensure the programme is maintained.
- Review and implement RAMS and ensure all operatives are working in accordance with approved methods.
- Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings where required.
- Liaise with the Project Manager and provide regular progress updates.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively to minimise delays.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries and H&S documentation.
- Coordinate deliveries and site logistics relating to the groundworks package.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the works.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager overseeing groundworks or civil engineering packages.
- Valid SMSTS certificate.
- Valid CSCS card (Manager level preferred).
- First Aid at Work certificate.
- Strong understanding of groundworks operations, site safety, and construction sequencing.
- Ability to manage subcontractors effectively and communicate with all stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
Temporary Works awareness/coordinator training.
Experience working on residential or mixed-use developments.
Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and snagging processes.
