We are working with an established engineering and construction business that is looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee steelwork installation activities and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
This is a hands-on role combining office-based project coordination with regular site attendance. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities, labour and subcontractors, helping ensure projects are completed on programme, within budget and in line with current legislation and best practice.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing site installation activities and managing the workforce and subcontract labour.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out site surveys and accurately recording measurements for the design/detailing team.
- Attending pre-start visits to assess access, working areas, datum levels and setting-out requirements.
- Preparing and maintaining RAMS and carrying out site audits.
- Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks and team briefings.
- Managing site activities against programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.
- Supervising subcontractors and specialist trades.
- Managing snagging and supporting project close-out.
- Maintaining site records, daily diaries, photographic records and project documentation.
- Producing clear site and progress reports.
- Raising and managing NCRs where required.
- Managing site labour, resources and timesheets.
- Monitoring and challenging costs to support successful project delivery.
- Attending site and management meetings.
- Supporting the development, training and performance of site teams.
We are looking for an experienced Steelwork Site Manager, Site Supervisor or similar construction professional with a strong understanding of steelwork installation and site operations.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience within steelwork, construction or a closely related engineering environment.
- Crane Supervisor qualification - minimum requirement.
- SSSTS - minimum requirement.
- CSCS Gold Card.
- IPAF and PASMA.
- Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.
- Experience producing and managing RAMS and carrying out site audits.
- A good understanding of construction plant and equipment used in steelwork activities.
- The ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing site labour, subcontractors and resources.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic IT skills, including email, Word and spreadsheets.
