The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join a well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering water, environmental, utilities, flood defence, and heavy civils projects across the UK.
The business is recognised for successfully delivering complex infrastructure schemes, including water treatment facilities, pipelines, drainage systems, reinforced concrete structures, and major groundworks packages. With a strong order book and long-standing relationships with key utility clients, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team on a significant water infrastructure project.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a civils and groundworks package on a live Water Treatment Works project in South Gloucestershire.
You will oversee all site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires someone with strong organisational skills and previous experience managing heavy civils and groundworks operations within utilities or infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all day-to-day site operations across civils and groundworks packages.
Coordinate labour, subcontractors, plant, and material deliveries.
Oversee earthworks, drainage, reinforced concrete works, foundations, utilities, and associated infrastructure activities.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
Manage site documentation, permits, RAMS, and progress reporting.
Liaise with engineers, commercial teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Monitor programme performance and drive project milestones.
Ensure quality assurance procedures and site records are maintained accurately.
Lead site meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering, water, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
Strong background in groundworks and heavy civils.
Experience managing drainage, reinforced concrete, earthworks, and infrastructure packages.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and work streams simultaneously.
