The Company,
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, high-end main contractor operating across London and the Home Counties. Specialising in bespoke residential and commercial projects, they are a Director-led business with a strong reputation for quality and delivery. They are currently delivering a programme of school extensions, small new builds and refurbishment projects across West London and are looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead their site teams.
The Role,
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a proven background managing smaller scale new builds, school extensions and refurbishment projects. This is not a large estate or volume housebuilding role — the client is specifically looking for someone who has worked on school buildings, extensions and smaller residential or commercial refurbishment projects.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of site operations across multiple West London sites, managing subcontractors and trades and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to a high standard. As the role involves working in occupied or semi-occupied school environments, a professional and customer-facing manner is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing day-to-day site operations across school extension, new build and refurbishment projects
- Supervising and coordinating subcontractors and trades on site
- Ensuring works are completed safely, on programme and to the required standard
- Liaising professionally with school staff, clients and members of the public
- Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings
- Maintaining accurate site records, diaries and progress reports
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations throughout
- Coordinating deliveries, materials and plant movements on site
- Attending site meetings and reporting progress to the client and senior management
Requirements:
- Proven Site Manager experience on school extensions, small new builds or refurbishment projects (essential)
- Experience on smaller scale projects — not large estate or volume housebuilding
- SMSTS qualification (essential)
- First Aid at Work (essential)
- CSCS card — Manager level
- Professional and customer-facing manner — comfortable dealing with school staff, parents and members of the public
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Based in or around West London
- Organised, reliable and able to hit the ground running
Desirable:
- DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Previous experience working on school or education sector projects
- Experience working in constrained or occupied environments
