Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding specialist construction contractor to recruit a Site Manager to join their growing General Works Division.

Our client has established an exceptional reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across the defence, data centre, and energy sectors. Operating as a fully integrated design, construction, and engineering business, they provide end-to-end solutions from site acquisition and design through to construction, refurbishment, and client occupation.

With over 40 years of industry expertise and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to oversee a varied portfolio of refurbishment, fit out, and new build projects valued up to c.£10m.

The Role

As Site Manager, you'll be responsible for the successful day-to-day delivery of projects across the UK, ensuring they are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Project Managers, commercial teams, consultants, and specialist subcontractors, you'll take ownership of site operations while maintaining exceptional client relationships throughout the construction process.

Projects range from smaller refurbishment and fit out schemes through to complex new build developments within live defence and mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day delivery of construction projects from commencement through to completion
• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour across multiple work packages
• Driving programme performance while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety
• Ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, RAMS, and project documentation
• Producing and managing short-term programmes to support project delivery
• Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and regular safety inspections
• Managing site quality inspections, testing, and non-conformance processes
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records, including site diaries, as-built information, and progress reporting
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the site team where appropriate

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as a Site Manager within a main contractor environment
• Experience delivering refurbishment, fit out, or new build construction projects
• Good understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project planning
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and quality management processes
• Commercial awareness and understanding of contract documentation
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software
• ONC, HNC, or equivalent construction-related qualification
• SMSTS and CSCS Card essential
• First Aid, Temporary Works, and Fire Marshal qualifications desirable
• Membership of a professional body such as CIOB or RICS would be advantageous

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the projects, successful applicants will be required to undergo UK Government security vetting.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be eligible to obtain the appropriate level of security clearance.
