An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site / Setting Out Engineer to join a well-established specialist contractor based in Darlington, delivering major construction projects across the North East.

This Site / Setting Out Engineer role offers a varied workload, supporting a range of construction projects including structural steel, precast concrete and general civil engineering works. You will work closely with site management and installation teams, providing accurate setting out, surveying and engineering support to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and within specified tolerances.

This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with a background in construction, structural steel, civils or infrastructure projects who enjoys working on technically challenging schemes and delivering projects to the highest standards.

The first assignment is expected to commence at QTS Blyth from 10th August (subject to programme) and is anticipated to run for approximately five weeks. The project involves the relocation of 144 site containers, requiring accurate setting out, surveying and continuous monitoring of installation tolerances throughout the works.

About the Role

As a Site / Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering support across a variety of construction projects, ensuring all setting out and surveying activities are completed accurately and in accordance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Setting out works using a Total Station
• Establishing accurate positions for the relocation of 144 site containers
• Maintaining engineering tolerances throughout installation works
• Carrying out site surveys and dimensional checks
• Interpreting engineering drawings and site layouts
• Working closely with site managers, subcontractors and installation teams
• Producing accurate site records and as-built information
• Identifying and resolving engineering issues on site
• Ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with project specifications
• Supporting projects across the North East as required

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer, Setting Out Engineer or Engineering Surveyor
• Experience using Total Stations (Leica, Trimble or Topcon preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong understanding of setting out techniques and construction tolerances
• CSCS Card
• Full UK driving licence
• Structural steel, civils, infrastructure or general construction experience would be advantageous

Working hours are 07:30 – 17:30 Monday to Friday, with weekend working available where required by the project programme.
