MERITUS are recruiting for a number of Skilled Aircraft Fitters to join a leading aerospace and defence manufacturer at their site in Filton.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a world-class production environment, supporting the assembly and manufacture of advanced aerospace structures and aircraft components. You'll join an experienced production team responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions on some of the industry's most innovative programmes.
If you have a recognised engineering apprenticeship and experience working in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or a similar engineering environment, we'd like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical instructions, and manufacturing specifications.
- Carry out aircraft fitting and assembly activities to required quality and safety standards.
- Use a range of hand tools and power tools for drilling, fitting, shimming, sealing, and assembly operations.
- Complete work accurately and efficiently in line with production schedules.
- Support inspection and certification activities where required following successful training and authorisation.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and quality procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider manufacturing team.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Completed Aerospace or Engineering Apprenticeship.
- Recognised engineering qualification such as:
- City & Guilds Level 2 or above
- NVQ Level 2/3
- BTEC ONC/OND
- Modern Apprenticeship Certificate
- Equivalent engineering qualification
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive and proactive attitude.

- The role may involve working within confined spaces and restricted access areas as part of assembly operations.
- Successful candidates may have the opportunity to gain additional certifications and approvals through on-site training programmes.
