Job Title: Skills Coach
Contract: Part time / 18.5 hours per week
Location: Bath / Hybrid
Salary: From £32,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Skills Coach to join our team and support learners undertaking AAT Level 3 and Level 4 apprenticeship programmes.
The Skills Coach will take responsibility for a caseload of apprentices, supporting them from enrolment through to successful completion. Working closely with learners, employers and colleagues, you will provide high-quality assessment, guidance and support to help learners achieve their apprenticeship goals.

Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of AAT Level 3 and Level 4 apprentices, providing consistent support throughout their programme.
- Complete learner sign-up, enrolment, gateway and completion documentation accurately and within required timescales.
- Conduct regular progress reviews with learners and employers, identifying achievements, challenges and appropriate actions.
- Assess portfolios and workplace evidence, providing clear, constructive and developmental feedback.
- Monitor learner progress against programme requirements, including off-the-job training and achievement targets.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records using e-portfolio and management information systems.
- Support and prepare learners for gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
- Plan and deliver engaging remote and face-to-face learning sessions, incorporating contextualised wider learning.
- Work collaboratively with employers to ensure learners receive appropriate workplace support and opportunities to develop their skills.
- Ensure all assessment and learner activity complies with relevant apprenticeship funding, quality assurance, safeguarding and data protection requirements.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting learners and has the knowledge, experience and organisational skills to manage an apprenticeship caseload effectively.
Essential
- An assessor qualification such as CAVA, TAQA, A1 or D32/D33, or a willingness to work towards an appropriate assessor qualification.
- Experience of supporting and/or assessing learners at Level 3 and/or Level 4.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with learners, employers and colleagues.
- Good digital administration skills and confidence using e-portfolios and management information systems.
- A learner-centred approach, with the ability to motivate, encourage and provide constructive feedback.
- Access to and use of your own vehicle for work-related travel.
Desirable
- AAT Level 4 or an equivalent/higher accounting qualification.
- Relevant professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance or payroll.
- Experience of working within the apprenticeship or further education sector.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding, compliance and quality assurance requirements.
