We are currently recruiting for an SMT Operator to join a busy and growing electronics manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role working within PCB assembly, where you will be responsible for setting up and operating SMT equipment and ensuring products are manufactured to a high standard.
SMT Operator Roles and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate SMT equipment, including pick and place machines, screen printers and reflow ovens
- Work from assembly drawings, technical instructions and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Identify electronic components and check boards for defects
- Carry out production work in line with agreed schedules and quality standards
- Ensure PCB assemblies meet IPC-A-610 requirements
- Follow all ESD, health & safety and company procedures
- Complete quality checks throughout the production process
- Attend daily team briefings and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Support continuous improvement activities within the production area
- Assist other departments and production teams when required
SMT Operator Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in SMT or PCB assembly
- Good knowledge of electronic components, including resistors, capacitors and ICs
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
- Good computer skills
- Experience using Juki and/or DEK machinery would be advantageous
- Experience working with fine-pitch components and BGA
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards
- Soldering and PCB rework experience
- A reliable and positive approach to work
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
SMT Operator Working Hours and Benefits:
- Early Shift: Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 14:00, Friday: 06:00 – 11:30
- Day Shift: Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00, Friday: 08:00 – 13:30
- Late Shift: Monday – Thursday: 13:45 – 21:45, Friday: 11:15 – 16:45 (20% shift allowance)
