Adult Social Worker – Learning Disabilities

📍 Location: Civic Centre, Newport, South Wales (Hybrid Working Available)
💷 Pay Rate: £28.01 per hour
🕒 Contract: Full-Time | Temporary/Agency

Are you an experienced Adult Social Worker with a passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities? We're recruiting on behalf of a local authority in South Wales for a rewarding opportunity based at the Civic Centre in Newport.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Adult Services team, working in a fast-paced environment where you'll make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults and their carers.

The Role

As an Adult Social Worker, you will:

• Complete assessments and reviews for adults with learning disabilities.
• Deliver strengths-based, person-centred interventions to promote independence.
• Manage a varied caseload, including complex cases involving risk and safeguarding.
• Work across front door, community, and hospital discharge pathways.
• Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interests decision-making.
• Develop care and support plans in line with statutory responsibilities.
• Work collaboratively with health professionals, families, carers, and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and reports using electronic systems.

Requirements

We're looking for candidates who have:

• Qualified Social Worker status with Social Care Wales registration.
• Experience assessing and reviewing adults with learning disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act principles, and adult safeguarding.
• Experience managing competing demands within a busy caseload.
• Confidence working with complex cases and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
• A commitment to professional development and delivering positive outcomes.
