About the Role

Milton Keynes City Council is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a stable, supportive team focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people in care.

Responsibilities

  • Chair multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings
  • Complete statutory assessments and annual reviews
  • Develop and implement child-centred care plans
  • Manage a caseload of up to 18 children, including those under care and placement orders
  • Work collaboratively with professionals including IROs, health services, and education teams
  • Ensure children's needs are met through direct work, life story work, and ongoing placement support

About the Team

  • Stable and experienced leadership with a Team Manager and Deputy Manager
  • Collaborative structure including Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, and Social Work Assistants
  • Access to a Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Worker for additional support
  • Strong focus on training, development, and shared learning through regular team sessions
  • Dedicated support for adoption work, including life story book creation

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Recent Children in Care and adoption experience (within the last 5 years)
  • Strong assessment, care planning, and case management skills
  • Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
