Social Worker Team Manager - Children's Services

Team Manager | Children's Services | Thurrock | £287.63 per Day Umbrella
Caritas Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to join Thurrock Children's Services on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and develop a frontline team within a well-established service committed to delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
Based in Grays, Essex, the successful candidate will provide strong leadership, oversight and support to a team of social work professionals, ensuring high-quality practice, effective performance management and compliance with statutory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team delivering services to children and families across Children's Social Care.
- Ensure safe, effective and child-centred practice in line with legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures.
- Provide regular supervision, case oversight and professional support to team members.
- Monitor and drive performance against service objectives, quality standards and key performance indicators.
- Oversee case allocation and ensure robust plans are in place for all children and families.
- Identify and manage high-risk, complex and high-profile cases within the service.
- Chair meetings and represent Children's Services at multi-agency forums and partnership meetings.
- Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and strategic developments across the department.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and professional excellence.
Requirements:
- Social Work England Registration.
- Qualified Social Worker with substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
- Previous experience as a Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager or Advanced Practitioner with supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, children in need and statutory social work practice.
- Experience managing performance, supervision and service delivery within a local authority setting.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
