Social Worker | Assessment & Intervention / Court Team | Torbay Council | Up to £45ph + Accommodation Allowance
Torbay Council is currently recruiting experienced Children's Social Workers to join its Assessment & Intervention Team and Court Team. These are long-term agency opportunities within a local authority that has recently achieved a GOOD Ofsted rating, offering supportive management, regular supervision and genuine opportunities for progression into permanent positions.
Current Opportunities
Assessment & Intervention Social Worker
- Up to £42 per hour
- Up to £45 per hour

Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working available
- Office attendance expected up to 3 days per week
- During duty weeks, full office attendance is required
- Duty rota operates on a 1 week in every 3 weeks basis
- Social Workers must remain available to respond to crisis situations and Section 47 enquiries when working remotely
- Candidates must be able to travel throughout Torbay and occasionally out of county for visits to children placed outside the area
Caseloads
Social Workers can expect caseloads of approximately 20-24 cases, including a mixture of:
- Child in Need (CIN)
- Child Protection (CP)
- Assessments
- Complex safeguarding work
- Court proceedings (Court Team)
