Job Description: Software Developer
We are looking for a talented software developer/engineer to join our friendly, experienced team. As a development team, we work closely together, participating in pair-programming, planning, architecting as a team, and peer reviewing each other’s work. We have fun while we work and are passionate about technology.
We operate in an agile way, using the Scrum framework to regularly deliver value to our customers. The development team works directly with product owners to prepare work for sprints, cooperates with our customer-facing colleagues to give our users the best possible experience, and collaborates with our ops team to ensure our applications are stable and running well.
Key Responsibilities

Engineering Principles: Demonstrate a strong understanding of software engineering principles, modern programming languages, and frameworks, including object-oriented programming and MVC architecture.

Product Enhancements: Develop and peer review product enhancements.

Issue Resolution: Diagnose, investigate, and resolve bugs.

Agile Participation: Participate fully in Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.

Collaboration: Work closely with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Mentorship: Guide and mentor less experienced members of the team where necessary.

Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements to working practices by keeping up to date with the latest trends and technologies.
Technical Skills and Experience
It is likely that the suitable candidate will have at least two years of commercial experience in a software development role, alongside experience in the following areas:

Spring frameworks and Spring Boot

JavaScript
-
Database management (ideally MSSQL)
-
Version control tools such as SVN and Git
-
Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Data formats including JSON and XML
-
Testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito

MVC and Object-Oriented architecture

Hours and Location
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours, Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm) based at our offices at the Staffordshire Technology Park, Stafford.
