Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a rapidly growing renewable energy O&M provider to recruit a Solar Electrician to support the maintenance and operation of utility-scale solar assets across the UK.


The Solar Electrician role comes with an hourly rate of £19-£21 per hour, paid travel, a company van and fuel card, and the opportunity to join a growing technical team supporting a portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities and duties of the Solar Electrician role

Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across utility-scale solar PV sites.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults on solar farm equipment and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform inspection, testing and commissioning activities in line with industry standards and company procedures.
  • Complete preventative maintenance activities to maximise asset availability and performance.
  • Accurately complete job reports, test documentation and maintenance records using company systems.
  • Support fault response activities and assist with minimising downtime across operational assets.
  • Work safely in accordance with company procedures, electrical regulations and site-specific requirements.
  • Liaise with technical support teams, asset management personnel and site stakeholders when required.
  • Travel extensively throughout the UK to attend customer sites and deliver maintenance activities.
  • Participate in future weekend and on-call working arrangements as operational requirements develop.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification or equivalent.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Minimum 5 years' electrical experience.
  • Experience working on commercial or utility-scale solar PV installations.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads across multiple sites.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
