Solar Electrician – Commercial & Domestic Installations

Colchester, Essex Up to £55,000 basic + overtime Full‑time, Permanent Company Van + Fuel Card + Benefits

Unify Renewables is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well‑established renewable energy contractor based in Colchester, specialising in Solar PV, Battery Storage and EV Charging solutions across domestic, commercial and social housing projects.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work across Essex and the wider region, they are looking for an experienced Solar Electrician to join their installation team.

The Role

You’ll be part of a skilled field‑based team delivering high‑quality Solar PV and Battery Storage installations across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and occasional projects further afield. This is a hands‑on role involving installation, testing, inspection, commissioning and maintenance of solar systems, with a strong focus on safety, compliance and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install Solar PV systems on domestic and commercial properties

  • Carry out electrical testing, inspection and commissioning to industry standards

  • Diagnose and resolve faults on solar PV and battery systems

  • Complete accurate documentation, test sheets and installation records

  • Provide clear, professional communication to customers and site contacts

  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation

  • AM2 + 18th Edition

  • 2391 Test & Inspect (preferred)

  • Proven experience installing Solar PV systems

  • Strong understanding of inverters, battery systems and associated electrical works

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

  • Full UK driving licence

Experience with SolarEdge or other major inverter/battery manufacturers is highly desirable.

Location Requirement

Applicants must live within a reasonable commute of Colchester, as daily attendance at the client’s yard is required before travelling to site.
