Sourcing Executive/Purchasing Administrator

An excellent opportunity for a Buying Administrator or Purchasing Administrator looking to progress into a more commercially focused sourcing and purchasing position.
You will be responsible for sourcing materials and ancillary purchases, developing supplier relationships, negotiating competitive prices and terms, and identifying opportunities to improve the company's overall purchasing performance.

Salary: Around £30,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Working Pattern: Office-based, 4 days per week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to meet business requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Identify, research and approach new suppliers and alternative sources of materials.
  • Obtain and compare quotations to ensure the business achieves the best possible pricing and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, payment terms, delivery and other commercial conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with existing and prospective suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery and cost.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier issues relating to quality, delivery, pricing or service.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
  • Analyse market trends and supplier capabilities to identify alternative sourcing opportunities.
  • Source materials and ancillary purchases required by the business.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of sourcing and supplier activity.
  • Ensure purchasing and sourcing activities comply with company procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Keep up to date with new and changing EU legislation and regulations relating to material sourcing.
  • Work closely with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements and ensure materials are sourced within agreed timescales.
  • Support the wider purchasing function and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience & Skills:
  • Previous experience in sourcing, buying or purchasing, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience sourcing materials and/or ancillary products.
  • Strong supplier negotiation skills and the ability to secure competitive commercial terms.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness with a focus on cost, quality and delivery.
  • Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of sourcing activities.
  • Good understanding of supplier management and purchasing processes.
