Our client, ISS, is seeking a Sous Chef for their site in Southampton.
Job Overview
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate and driven Sous Chef to develop within a supportive, growth‑focused environment. Working closely with the Chef Manager and a small, dedicated team, the post is based in a modern, well‑equipped kitchen delivering high‑quality food and service to customers.
The staff restaurant has recently undergone an exciting transformation, featuring a refreshed dining space, a Grab & Go offer, and a newly introduced Coffee Bar. The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in supporting daily operations and ensuring consistently high standards across food preparation and service.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and delivering high‑quality food for breakfast and lunch services
- Supporting the delivery of excellent catering services across the restaurant and hospitality functions
- Ensuring all services run smoothly, efficiently, and to agreed deadlines
- Maintaining excellent hygiene standards across all kitchen and service areas
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety, and cleanliness standards
- Working collaboratively with the wider on‑site team to deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Supporting operational standards within a modern staff restaurant environment
- Providing cover for the Chef Manager during periods of holiday and sickness
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- NVQ Level 3 (or working towards) or an equivalent professional cookery qualification
- Proven culinary experience in a similar environment
- A genuine passion for producing great‑tasting, high‑quality food
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- High levels of motivation, reliability, and organisation, with strong timekeeping
- Attention to detail and a commitment to consistently high standards of service
- A positive, supportive, and collaborative approach to teamwork
