Spanish Teacher – Primary School, Barnet
Salary: £39,196–£58,120 (M1–UPS3), paid to scale and pro rata
Contract: Part-time, temporary, long-term
Days: Tuesday and Wednesday
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, plus one after-school club
Start: Immediate / September 2026
Are you a creative and confident Spanish Teacher looking for a rewarding part-time role? A welcoming primary school in Barnet is seeking an enthusiastic teacher to lead Spanish across Years 2–6 while providing additional PPA cover.
The Role
As the schools Spanish Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons using an established curriculum map. Topics include greetings, numbers, family, daily routines, food, leisure, culture and conversational Spanish.
You will not need to create a curriculum from scratch, but you must be able to turn the existing framework into structured, age-appropriate lessons and resources.
Alongside Spanish, you will provide rotating PPA cover across different subjects and year groups using the schools planning. You will also run one informal after-school Spanish club until 4:20pm on either Tuesday or Wednesday, using games, songs and speaking activities to build pupils confidence.
Key Responsibilities
• Teach Spanish across Years 2–6
• Plan lessons and resources from the curriculum map
• Differentiate learning for different ages and abilities
• Provide general PPA cover across the school
• Maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Run one weekly after-school Spanish club
About You
The successful Spanish Teacher will have:
• Strong Spanish skills, ideally fluent or near-fluent
• QTS and primary experience, or substantial primary MFL experience
• Confidence planning Spanish lessons independently
• Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills
• Flexibility when teaching different subjects and year groups
• Reliable availability every Tuesday and Wednesday
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
