We are recruiting a caring, patient, and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in St Albans. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a supportive and inclusive environment, providing tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs and helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Whether you are an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, graduate, or someone looking to develop a career in education, we would love to hear from you.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities

• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, social and emotional development

• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies and learning plans

• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities

• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and engagement in learning

• Supporting pupils who may have communication difficulties, sensory needs, behavioural challenges, or other additional needs

• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and helping them feel confident and valued

• Supporting pupils with daily routines and encouraging greater independence

• Monitoring and reporting on pupils' progress and sharing relevant observations with the teaching team

• Assisting with the school's after-school club on some days, helping to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children at the end of the school day

We're Looking For:

• Experience working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery, care, or similar setting is desirable

• A caring, patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting children with additional needs

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and colleagues

• A willingness to learn and adapt your approach to meet individual needs

• Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine passion for supporting children to thrive

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
