Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working exclusively with a leading aerospace manufacturing business, to recruit a Special Process Engineer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected organisation operating within a regulated AS9100 environment, where quality, technical excellence and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do.
Working within the Quality function, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the control, compliance and continuous improvement of special processes. You will work closely with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams to ensure processes remain robust, repeatable and fully compliant with NADCAP, customer requirements and AS9100 standards.
Key Responsibilities- Support and maintain compliance with NADCAP and customer requirements, including preparation for audits and the closure of non-conformances.
- Assist in the control, qualification and validation of assigned special processes, ensuring continued capability and compliance with specifications.
- Develop, maintain and improve technical documentation including process specifications, work instructions and data sheets.
- Support internal audit activities and ensure ongoing compliance with NADCAP, AS9100 and customer standards.
- Conduct special process quality reviews, including heat treatment records, AMS2750 pyrometry compliance, SAT and TUS reports, calibration records and material certification.
- Support root cause investigations using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring process readiness and supporting FAIR submissions.
- Support COSHH and environmental compliance activities associated with special processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve process capability, quality performance and operational efficiency.
- Support the approval and monitoring of subcontract special process suppliers, including technical reviews and audits.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, customers and external auditors on technical matters relating to assigned processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within an aerospace manufacturing environment and possess a strong understanding of quality systems and special process requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- HNC, HND or Degree qualification in an Engineering discipline, with Materials Science or Chemical Processing backgrounds particularly desirable.
- 3-5 years' experience within an AS9100 aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of NADCAP requirements and experience supporting audits.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and industry standards.
- Familiarity with quality tools including FAIRs, PFMEA, PPAP and concessions/production permits.
- Experience using structured root cause analysis methodologies including 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone techniques.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience of ERP and QMS systems.
