In our Custodial Department, we’re on the front line of creating safer environments – working on high-security projects so confidential we can’t even tell you the details (yes, it’s that secret). From concept through to completion, you’ll be hands-on with Protec’s own cutting-edge technology and trusted third-party systems, building integrated life safety solutions that truly make a difference. Your expertise in British Standards will be the backbone of our Special Projects Bid Team, as you help craft spot-on tech submissions, persuasive quotation, and sealed tenders for some of the UK’s most high-profile projects – think Government buildings, HMP sites, MoD, and MoJ. This is your chance to combine technical know-how with problem-solving flair – and play a key role in safeguarding people where it matters most.
Typical Responsibilities
- Create winning proposals – prepare and submit accurate quotations that tick every box, from client needs to British Standards.
- Get creative with words – support with technical bid writing, helping craft methodologies and technical documents that really stand out.
- Bring ideas to life – produce conceptual electronic designs and wiring schematics that shape future projects.
- Team up & collaborate – work closely with Sales, Projects, and Design to deliver spot-on quotations to prospective clients.
- Crunch the numbers – help prepare cost breakdowns, profit forecasts, and tidy up tenders so nothing’s missed.
- Hunt for the best deals – gather competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to keep our bids sharp.
- Quality checker – review 3rd-party quotes to make sure everything is fully compliant.
- Be the face of the company – attend initial site meetings, carry out site surveys, and represent us with confidence.
- Keep projects moving – process client sales orders, liaise with engineers, and make sure all job files are ready to roll.
- Pitch in where needed – support with admin, calls, and any other tasks that keep the team running smoothly.
Qualifications
- An electrical based qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC etc
Experience
- Experience within a similar role, designing and costing new installations
- Working knowledge of current British Standards
- Experience of installing life safety and associated systems
Skills / Abilities
- Ability to produce and read technical drawings and specifications
- An excellent eye for detail
- Ability to consistently produce accurate costs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually and as part of a successful team
- Creative thinking with the ability to see and implement practical solutions
- Proficient using Microsoft computer packages Including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
- Working to deadlines
