Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated full-time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a close-knit, collaborative team at a specialist autism school. This provision supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The learning environment is nurturing, highly structured, and personalised, with a strong focus on communication, independence, emotional regulation, and preparation for adulthood. Many of our pupils access learning through developmentally appropriate, play-based, and experiential approaches, making an Early Years or Primary education background ideal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a highly differentiated curriculum tailored to the complex needs of individual students.

  • Implement autism-friendly practices, communication strategies, and sensory regulation support.

  • Foster student independence and life skills aligned with preparation for adulthood.

  • Build positive, collaborative relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience working within a specialist SEN setting supporting Autism (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

  • Background in Primary or Early Years education with expertise in play-based and experiential learning.

  • Nurturing, flexible, and creative approach to teaching with high expectations for pupils with complex needs.

  • Genuine passion for improving educational outcomes for children with SEND.
