Specialist SEND Tutor - Somerset
Quantum Scholars
1-2-1 SEND Tuition | Flexible Hours | September 2026 Opportunities
Quantum Scholars is expanding its Somerset tutoring team ahead of what is expected to be a busy September 2026, with a growing number of SEND, EOTAS (Education Other Than At School), and Alternative Provision referrals across Taunton and the surrounding areas.
We are seeking compassionate, experienced SEND Specialist Tutors to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education.
The learners we support have a wide range of additional needs, including:
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Anxiety and trauma
- Medical needs
- Behavioural challenges
- EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
Every learner is unique, so we're looking for tutors who can build positive relationships, adapt their teaching approach, and help rebuild confidence alongside academic progress.
Whether you're a qualified teacher, SEN teacher, experienced tutor, teaching assistant with tutoring experience, or an education professional looking for flexible work, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young person's life.
Tuition is delivered on a 1:1 basis with primary and secondary-aged learners (up to age 16). Sessions typically take place face-to-face in the learner's home or within a suitable community setting, with occasional online tuition where appropriate.
One of the biggest benefits of working with Quantum Scholars is the flexibility. Whether you're looking for a few hours each week alongside existing commitments or hoping to build a timetable of 20+ hours, we'll work with your availability wherever possible. With increasing referrals expected throughout the academic year, there will be ongoing opportunities across Taunton and the surrounding Somerset areas.

- The ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs and learning styles
- A patient, nurturing and flexible approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

- Ability to travel within Taunton and surrounding areas
What We Offer
- Flexible work to fit around your availability
- Ongoing referrals throughout the academic year
- Rewarding 1:1 teaching that genuinely changes lives
