Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs? Are you looking for a rewarding full-time role within specialist education?
We are currently recruiting Specialist Teaching Assistants to work within specialist provisions across the Skelmersdale and Ormskirk areas. You will be supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access education, develop independence and reach their full potential.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Support primary and secondary-aged pupils within specialist education settings.
- Assist pupils with learning, communication, social and emotional development.
- Support pupils with a range of SEND and additional needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and tailored learning plans.
- Support pupils to manage their emotions and overcome barriers to learning.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs.
- This experience can be gained either personally or professionally.
- A caring, patient and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence supporting individuals with a range of needs.
- The ability to adapt to different specialist school environments.
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced Child DBS, or willingness to apply and pay for one.
- A minimum of 24 months of professional employment references.
- Previous personal or professional experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.
- Ability to travel across the Skelmersdale and Ormskirk areas.
