Sports Centre Shift Leader

  • Annual Salary: Scale 4 - £26,403 - £28,142
  • Location: Impington, Chesterton or Witchford
  • Job Type: Permanent - Full-time, including weekends, early mornings and evenings

Reed are supporting a great group of sports centres who are seeking a dedicated Shift Leader to support the smooth and safe daily operation of our centres. This role is crucial in leading key operational tasks, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and supervision and providing operational support across all their sites. The Shift Leader will also hold key holder responsibilities and is expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of all sites to ensure seamless support.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Ensure efficient operation of the facility during shifts, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and service.
  • Perform daily operational tasks such as building checks, pool setups and cleaning duties across both dry and wet-side facilities.
  • Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Support the setup and delivery of group bookings, events and daily programme transitions.
  • Manage accident and incident reporting in line with company policies.
  • Provide poolside supervision in accordance with RLSS standards and support routine pool plant operation tasks.
  • Act as a role model for frontline teams, providing guidance and support and fostering a collaborative working environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in facility operations or a similar role, preferably in a sports or leisure centre.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, early mornings and evenings.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to act as a role model.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • RLSS Pool Lifeguard Qualification or willingness to achieve it.
  • National Pool Plant Operators Qualification is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS with Barred List clearance.
