Sports Centre Duty Manager and Swim Lead

Cranleigh School · Direct employer

Sports Centre Duty Manager & Swim Lead

Salary: £19,526

Closing Date: 14th August 2026

This role requires an individual who can confidently run daily sports-centre operations while leading and growing a learn-to-swim programme that serves children and the local community. You will also combine shift-based facility management, customer care and health and safety oversight with delivery and development of Swim Academy provision and commercial activity to increase pool usage.

About this role / why this role matters

Working 25 hours per week across rota shifts including some evening and Saturday coverage, you will ensure the centre is safe, welcoming and effectively operated for both school and public users. Your teaching will range from beginner to Swim England Stage 7, delivering high-quality swim instruction, clear progression pathways and consistent communication with parents. You will also develop revenue-generating programmes including adult lessons and holiday courses, helping the centre grow its community impact and financial sustainability.

What you'll be doing

On each shift you will operate to open and close the facility, maintain safety and cleanliness, set up activities, deliver Swim Academy sessions, manage swimmer progression, handle bookings and enquiries, and support marketing and commercial initiatives. You will provide lifesaving and pool supervision, contribute to pool-plant and safety procedures with training provided where needed, and assist colleagues across the team as required.

What we're looking for

We seek a qualified swim teacher and qualified lifeguard with leisure-sector experience who can teach across mixed abilities and engage families effectively. Candidates with instructor qualifications, pool-plant knowledge or fitness coaching skills are desirable, as is experience or aptitude for developing commercial programmes to grow activity.

We would consider applicants with a strong background in either element of the role.

About the team / department

You will be part of Trevor Abbot Sports Centre (TASC), reporting to the Sports Centre Manager and working closely with the Sports Centre Administrator and the wider operations team to deliver safe, accessible facilities for the School and local community.
