Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you from a sports, coaching or fitness background and looking to use your skills in a school setting? A welcoming school in Sheffield is seeking a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide classroom and behaviour support to pupils.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support position rather than a sports delivery role. Your sports or coaching background will be a valuable transferable skill, particularly when it comes to maintaining structure, managing behaviour, encouraging engagement and building positive relationships with pupils.
Working alongside teachers, you will support pupils in the classroom, assist with learning activities and help maintain a calm and focused environment. Depending on the school's needs, the role may include supporting Primary or Secondary pupils, SEN support and occasional cover supervision. Sport is your background, but supporting pupils' learning and behaviour will be your main responsibility.
About the School:
This supportive school is committed to helping pupils make progress academically and personally. Staff work closely together to maintain positive behaviour, high expectations and an inclusive learning environment where pupils feel supported throughout the school day.
Responsibilities:
-
Provide classroom-based support to pupils across the school.
-
Support positive behaviour, engagement and participation in learning.
-
Use your coaching experience to bring structure, consistency and encouragement to the classroom.
-
Work alongside teachers to support individual pupils and small groups.
-
Assist pupils with SEN and additional learning needs where required.
-
Support cover supervision and classroom activities when needed.
-
Monitor pupils' engagement and provide relevant feedback to teaching staff.
Requirements:
-
Experience in sports coaching, fitness, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.
-
Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
-
A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting pupils.
-
Confidence working with children or young people in a structured environment.
-
Ability to transfer coaching skills into classroom and learning support.
-
A genuine interest in helping pupils develop academically and personally.
