Sports Coach - Secondary School (PE & Behaviour Mentor)

A welcoming secondary school in Blackpool is seeking an energetic, proactive Sports Coach to join their physical education and pastoral support team.
This role is ideal for a passionate sports graduate, community coach, or youth mentor who wants to inspire secondary school pupils through physical activity, structured sport, and positive behaviour role modelling. You will work closely with the PE department, supporting practical lessons, running extra-curricular clubs, and delivering targeted 1:1 or small-group mentoring for students who need extra motivation and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of high-quality PE lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Plan and lead engaging lunchtime and after-school sports clubs, tournaments, and fitness sessions.
Act as a positive role model and mentor, using sport as a tool to improve student attendance, confidence, and classroom focus.
Assist with behaviour management across practical PE environments, ensuring student safety and active participation.
Work alongside the pastoral team to run targeted interventions for students with SEMH or disengagement challenges.
Support the maintenance, setup, and safety checks of school sporting equipment and facilities.
Requirements & Qualifications
Recognised coaching qualification (NGB Level 1 or 2 in any sport) or a degree in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, or Sports Science.
Proven experience coaching, teaching, or mentoring young people aged 11-16 within a school, academy, or sports club setting.
Confident communication skills and a calm, authoritative presence when managing groups of teenagers.
Strong commitment to student safeguarding and promoting positive youth development.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one immediately).
