A fantastic school in Surrey is looking for an enthusiastic Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role would suit someone who has a strong sporting background and is keen to use their skills to support pupils both in the classroom and through physical activity.
You do not necessarily need to have worked solely as a Teaching Assistant — candidates with experience as sports coaches, PE assistants, youth workers, mentors, or support workers are encouraged to apply.

The Role
As a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with their learning and development during lessons
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and general learning support
- Delivering or assisting with PE lessons and sporting activities
- Using sport and physical activity to improve pupil engagement and confidence
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Encouraging pupils to participate and develop teamwork skills
- Supporting pupils who may experience behavioural, emotional, or additional needs
- Helping pupils develop resilience, communication, and self-esteem
- Organising and supervising sports activities during break and lunchtime
- Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils make appropriate choices
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
- Working alongside teachers and pastoral/SEN staff to support individual pupils
- Creating a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced working with children or young people in a primary or secondary school
- Passionate about sport, fitness, and working with young people
- A qualified or experienced Sports Coach, PE Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Mentor, or Youth Worker
- Confident leading activities and engaging pupils
- Comfortable supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
- Positive, energetic, patient, and approachable
- Confident managing behaviour and maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Able to motivate pupils who may lack confidence or engagement
- Adaptable and happy to support both inside and outside the classroom
- Experience working with SEN or challenging behaviour is desirable
- In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply through Uniform Education
