Sports Coach – Cover Supervisor

Zest Education are recruiting Sports Coaches to work as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Handsworth and Aston.

We are a main agency provider to schools across the region and have an ongoing need for enthusiastic, reliable and sporty individuals to join our team.

The Role

As a Sports Coach Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in supporting secondary schools by supervising students and delivering pre-planned lessons when teaching staff are absent.

You will primarily support KS3 and KS4 PE lessons, as well as providing general classroom cover when required.

In PE lessons, you will:

  • Supervise groups of students aged 11–18
  • Lead and support pre-planned PE activities and lessons
  • Encourage students to participate in physical activity
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Create a positive, enjoyable and supportive learning environment

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a sporting background who would like to gain further experience working within an educational setting.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are keen to hear from sporty, enthusiastic and confident individuals who enjoy working with young people.

To be considered, you will need to be either:

  • A recent university graduate, or
  • Have a minimum of 20 days' experience working with groups of children or young people

Experience can come from a variety of backgrounds, including:

  • Sports coaching
  • Youth work
  • Mentoring
  • Scouting
  • Playgroup or childcare
  • Holiday clubs
  • Volunteering
  • Teaching or classroom support

Zest Education are an APSCo-audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children and young people.

All candidates must:

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS, or be willing to allow Zest Education to process one
  • Be registered with the DBS Update Service
  • Provide suitable references covering the last two years
  • Successfully complete all necessary safeguarding and compliance checks before being cleared for work

The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position include recent school-based experience within the last five years in a school teaching the British Curriculum and/or relevant care-based experience within the last five years.
